Scientific Lab

The main goal of the Scientific Lab of the Federal Resource Center is to conduct and provide evidence-based research related to the methods and techniques of work with children with ASD and to improve the methods of behavioral and neurophysiological diagnostics of children and adolescents suffering from developmental and pervasive disorders.

The predecessor of the Scientific Lab of the Federal Resource Center was the Scientific and Educational Center "Neurobiology Diagnosis of Hereditary Mental Diseases in Children and Adolescents", established at MSUPE in 2009.

General Tasks of the Scientific Lab

  • Conducting an interdisciplinary research of the heterogeneity of ASD;
  • Implementation of modern behavioral tools to the diagnostics of children and adolescents with the developmental and pervasive disorders and ASD;
  • Implementation of the quantitative analysis of the EEG data into a set of diagnostic tools to identify possible predictors and causes of neuropsychiatric disorders in childhood;
  • Development of a methodology for the evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions for children with ASD;
  • Expert evaluation of interventions (practices, methods. techniques) for children, adolescents and adults with ASD;
  • Implementation of the further education courses ("Methods and technologies for complex diagnostics of clinical and psychological characteristics for the development of routes for accompanying children with ASD").

Advisory support to families

On the basis of the Scientific Lab diagnostic and advisory support is provided to families raising a children with Fragile-X syndrome.

Staff of the Scientific Lab carry out a comprehensive psychological, behavioral and neurophysiological assessment of children, support to parents related to issues of:

  • work with the behavioral and cognitive impairments;
  • the choice of an educational route;
  • development of the diagnostic examination plan and the organization of psychological and medical care;

Advisory support ​to professionals

Specialists of the Scientific Lab of the FRC carry out:

  • Advisory support to professionals (psychologists, teachers) on the development and description of practices for work with ASD, taking into account the requirements of an evidence-based approach;
  • Consulting and scientific support for evidence-based research of practices of work with children with ASD;
  • Advising specialists on the selection and the development of tools for monitoring the effectiveness of practices of working with children with ASD.
